At the Chess Olympiad 2022, held between 27 July and 10 August, we were delighted to welcome teams from Finland, Germany, Montenegro, Iran, Hong Kong, Argentina, Portugal, and Kazakhstan. Seeing that 4 August fell within the same period, we seized the opportunity to celebrate World Chocolate Chip Cookie Day by getting the chess champs to bake Chennai’s largest cookie. With great alacrity, the guests from each of the eight countries gathered around the chef in the dining area, who then guided them through each step of the cookie-making process. Everyone was fully engaged and enthusiastic about the activity.
It was a truly extraordinary day when we had the privilege of hosting the racers of the Indian Racing League for a day of relaxation and celebration. From their arrival to their departure, we ensured it was a day they would never forget. Our guests were taken in by the rhythms of our traditional Kalbelia music and enjoyed the majestic beauty of the Sagar pool. To top it all off, we spoiled them with an array of tantalizing delicacies.
The Yuletide season at Kaldan had been eagerly anticipated for months, and when it finally arrived, it brought with it the much-awaited cake-mixing ceremony. Deliciously fragrant dry fruits, nuts, and spices were placed into a bubbling cauldron, to which bottles of wine, rum, and whisky were added. As the inviting aroma filled the air, our guests excitedly donned gloves and joined in the mixing, delighting in the sweet smells that were created.
Starting with a vision of creating a new level of luxury hospitality, the resort has implemented an array of creative and effective F&B marketing campaigns to increase its visibility and brand recognition. This year, we worked around the clock to bring you unparalleled culinary experiences – from the Biriyani Mela to the Tricolour Feast for Independence Day, from the Onam Sadhya to the Awadh Food Festival, from the Navaratri Thali to a Rajasthani food fest – ‘Ghoomar to Ghewar’. We hope that our guests enjoyed these one-of-a-kind culinary experiences!
Tamil Nadu has some of the most passionate connoisseurs of Biriyani, so it was only natural that we organized a Biriyani Mela at ‘Dhani’ – a luxurious gourmet haven that offers a unique fusion of global and Rajasthani flavors. While the Biriyani took people by storm in July, August was a season for tri-color. The ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ fervor that has gripped the nation, was an absolute joy for us at Kaldan as we curated the Tri-colour feast for Independence Day that included Tri-colour salads and desserts.
Inspired by the saying, ‘Love thy neighbor’, we hosted the renowned Onam Sadhya on the occasion of Onam. Authentic Kerala delicacies were curated by our chefs which touched the hearts of our guests in September. Awadh a historic region in north-central India is renowned for its unique cuisine, architecture, and music. So we wanted our guests to taste the choicest dishes of the region; as rich as its history. At the Awadh Food Festival we served kebabs, kormas, biriyanis and more.
As magnificent and vibrant as the festival of Navaratri is, so too was our Navaratri Thali an invitation for it. We crafted the thali in a manner that it was a perfect indulgence even for those fasting. In keeping with the spirit of our resort, we hosted the grandest of food festivals – ‘Ghoomar to Ghewar’. This fest was an homage to the royal culinary heritage of Rajasthan and featured special dance performances, puppet shows, and arts & crafts.
All said and done, none of this would have been possible without the patronage received from our guests. Kaldan Samudhra is our ground to deliver an upscale version of our promise of ‘Service from Heart’. We had as much fun planning every moment as attending to our guests and catering to their needs. We only hope that the coming years are grander, higher in spirits, and bring back our guests for second, third, and many more visits.
